OUR APPROACH

WHO WE ARE

About Our Founder

JCW Headshot (Meeno Vert Cropped)_edited.jpg

Joshua Walters founded Democracy Werks in 2023, bringing nearly two decades of legislative and political experience to the petition management space. As a California based political strategist, Walters has a deep understanding of politics, campaigns and the political landscape of the Golden State. Walters believes that the foundation of a successful petition campaign lies in meticulous organization and precise execution while providing the transparency necessary to maintain donor confidence in all our projects.

Democracy Werks is a Trusted Member of the Capitol Community

We are the only statewide petition management firm based in Sacramento and operated by political professionals who have been part of Sacramento’s Capitol community for over 20 years. We get coffee at the same spots, eat lunch at the same restaurants, and run into each other at the grocery store. This means we understand and value the importance of maintaining a winning record and unassailable reputation in our community.

Democracy Werks Does the Work –

Performing 100% of Validation In-House

You can’t win if you’re not on the ballot. You finally have enough signatures, but are enough of them valid to qualify for the ballot? Are there any duplicates that could be devastating during random sampling? How do we know?

Democracy Werks knows because we do the hard work ourselves. When it comes to signature validation, we check 100% of the signatures – work that is done in-house by real people.

Getting signature validation right is the reason we created proprietary signature validation software, PaperTrace, that is both accurate and efficient. To maintain accuracy over time, we consistently update the voter file throughout a project while protecting against duplicate signatures.

To date, PaperTrace and our validation team have a 100% record in tracking and eliminating duplicate signatures.

Getting on the Ballot Shouldn’t be an Open Question

Changing California law is critical to your ongoing interests, long term goals, and organizational priorities. The legislature can’t – or won’t – pass your change, but the polling shows the voters are with you. You have the funding to pass an initiative and win.

But can you get it qualified?

Democracy Werks was founded so that getting your issue on the ballot and in front of the voters is never in question.
